    FEATURED ARTIST - february 2026

    Dale McDaniels

I combine my passion for turning and carving wood, exploring new creative opportunities much like the diverse artistic expressions found in ceramics in Gig Harbor.

Ultimately, it’s my love for wood and its inherent God-given properties that ignites my passion. I strive to provide form and function, allowing wood to speak for itself, similar to how pieces in the gallery in Gig Harbor showcase artistic craftsmanship.

My passion for woodworking ignited after receiving a toolbox from my dad, leading me into the cabinetry industry. However, I found it restrictive and uninspiring. After retiring, I embraced my true passions, emphasizing the intrinsic beauty of wood.

My newest obsession with the lathe enables me to create pieces that highlight exceptional figure, spalting, knots, and unique grain patterns, much like the stunning Gig Harbor paintings that capture the essence of nature.

Introducing TWO New Ebb tide Artists

    Karinna Olsen

    Hi, I'm Karinna Olsen.

I don't know what it is, but I know it’s out there.

It isn't drugs or alcohol; it's the gravitational pull of the elements.

It's feeling alive in every other way possible.

It's the happy sun sparkles on the water that bring joy to the heart.

It's the birds singing and the trees floating in the breeze.

It's eating veggies and feeling the life force energy.

It's metabolizing emotions and visualizing peace and calm serenity, melting and flowing back into nature.

    Laureen Donahue-Grossman

Ever since I was 5 years old,  I've been an artist - a quiet, observant girl who looked deeply at the world and all its natural beauty.

In high school and college in the Midwest, I pursued art as a major and learned from some of the greats. It was my life’s pursuit to live as a full-time artist, but alas, life happened - bills needed to be paid, children needed to be raised, and other dreams took priority.

For over 35 years now, I have enjoyed a successful career as a Landscape Designer, having created beautiful gardens, both public and private. My work has been published in major magazines and media. What I enjoyed most was transforming spaces into beauty and bringing joy to my customers.

I hope to continue to do the same at Ebb Tide and hope my art brings happiness to many.

Our Peninsula Art LEague (PAL) Guest Artist for February

In 2026, The Ebb Tide Gallery is partnering with the Peninsula Art League (PAL) to periodically showcase their artists in our gallery.

February's PAL Guest Artist is Susan E. Wheeler.

Susan's work is now on display at Ebb Tide through the end of the month.  Along with her outstanding wall art, prints and cards are available.

If you are interested in becoming a Guest Artist, please review our program's information here.

    Susan E. Wheeler

I was raised in Kennewick, Washington, and even as a young girl, I was a little explorer. But it was really venturing into the lush Pacific Northwest after high school that truly sparked my artistic compass.

While I was navigating the world of dance in Seattle, my awesome friend Claudia Fuenzalida handed me a new lens – the artistic one. She even gifted me my first expedition gear: canvas, oils, and brushes! Painting became my dedicated trek, especially while raising my little explorers, and it just blossomed into this captivating quest.

I've been charting my own course through different artistic terrains, from oils to mixed media, and that thirst for deeper understanding of visual art led me to an amazing year of intensive study at the Milan Art Institute, finishing up in May 2025 – where I experienced a real deep dive into the tools of the trade.

I hope when you look at my art, it ignites your own sense of discovery, maybe a feeling of connection to the wild world around us.
