Join our Guest Artist Ann Stockdale for a reception Here On Saturday, March 7, 2-4PM

Kathy will hold a reception on March 21st with a demo of painting with ink and Korean Colors (watercolors) on rice paper.
Art is all at once beautiful, exhilarating, and a window to my soul. Art offers opportunities to pull away from a hum drum crazy life, explore and breathe.
My muse is the Pacific Northwest: I love to hike, kayak or walk in my garden or in Gig Harbor. I am intrigued by sea life, birds, flowers and local scenery, but also whatever is in front of me that captures my imagination.
During my adventures I photograph and later retreat to my studio and create. My favorite medium is Chinese Ink and (watercolor) Color and I paint in a Westernized style of Chinese Gongbi painting. This method is contemplative, relaxing and welcomes the detail I love. Gongbi means “meticulous detail.” It was developed by the Chinese during the Han Dynasty 2000 years ago. This style of painting has been adopted in Korea and Japan as well.
My hope is that my art will invite you to enter a “sweet spot” where you will find a bit of peace and joy through your experience.

Hi, I'm Karinna Olsen.
Each new day feels like a gift—an opportunity to create and to share. My artwork is guided by a longing for serenity, emotional balance, and a meaningful sense of purpose. Creating allows me to cultivate hope, fulfillment, and connection beyond my roles as a mother and wife.
My artistic journey deepened after a series of life-changing events that reshaped my perspective and awakened a more intentional creative vision. Through painting and music, I seek peace, joy, and emotional renewal. On many days, I find tranquility in playing guitar, harp, and violin; the resonance of stringed instruments is both soothing and energizing, like the steady warmth of a fire on a cold day.
At the heart of my work is a desire to be understood and to express myself freely. Through art, I explore vulnerability, healing, and joy, offering visual spaces where emotion, reflection, and renewal can quietly coexist.

Ever since I was 5 years old, I've been an artist - a quiet, observant girl who looked deeply at the world and all its natural beauty.
In high school and college in the Midwest, I pursued art as a major and learned from some of the greats. It was my life’s pursuit to live as a full-time artist, but alas, life happened - bills needed to be paid, children needed to be raised, and other dreams took priority.
For over 35 years now, I have enjoyed a successful career as a Landscape Designer, having created beautiful gardens, both public and private. My work has been published in major magazines and media. What I enjoyed most was transforming spaces into beauty and bringing joy to my customers.
I hope to continue to do the same at Ebb Tide and hope my art brings happiness to many.

In 2026, The Ebb Tide Gallery is partnering with the Peninsula Art League (PAL) to periodically showcase their artists in our gallery.
March's PAL Guest Artist is Ann Stockdale. Ann's work is on display at Ebb Tide through the end of the month.
Join Ann for a reception at the gallery Saturday, March 7, from 2 - 4 pm.
If you are interested in becoming a Guest Artist, please review our program's information here.

Ann has lived the major portions of her life in Miami, California, London, and the Pacific Northwest. She moved to Dublin when her father was appointed US Ambassador to Ireland by President John F. Kennedy. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and emerged in such shows as the "Establishment Review," and on Broadway, where she was directed by Alan Arkin in "Hail Scawdyke." She also appeared in the film "Caged Heat," directed by Jonathan Demme.
"Music is a big part of my life in art. The music I listen to while painting, attracts certain spirit energy my way. I began knowing these wonderful invisible entities when I was about three years old…and would climb a big Banyan tree to spend time with them.
Around six, my invisible friends’ voices receded as I became more attuned to the tangle of earth thoughts. The music I listen to while painting, attracts certain spirit and meanings of everyday life. Years later, in the ‘60s, it was my good fortune to realized invisible spirits are a reality and forming a conscious connection to them is very favorable. That is when my creativity began to flower. I am actually co-creating with my invisible friends as I trust their input and they make it fun. It is lively to be infused with frequencies according to the music I am listening to.
I have been dedicated to painting as my creative focus for the last forty years."
