Shannon is a Pacific Northwest artist whose paintings are rooted in a lifelong connection to the natural world. Growing up surrounded by the region’s beaches, forests, mountains, and water, she developed an enduring appreciation for its beauty, atmosphere, and constantly shifting moods.

Her work is inspired as much by the experience of being in nature as by the landscape itself. Through loose, expressive forms, unexpected color, layered surfaces, and rich texture, she explores the emotional qualities of place—capturing the feeling of a particular moment, the memory of a landscape, or the fleeting effect of light rather than seeking literal representation.

Painting first became an important part of Shannon’s life in the early 2000s, when she enrolled in a local art class and discovered the freedom and possibility of working with paint. Although she spent 35 years building a career as an electrical engineer, she continued to paint and develop her artistic practice alongside her professional life. Today, she is pursuing art as a full-time creative practice, embracing the opportunity to explore her work with greater depth and intention.

Each painting is an exploration—an opportunity to experiment with color, texture, gesture, and layers, while remaining open to unexpected discoveries. Her process reflects a belief that art is not simply about recreating what is seen, but about interpreting how a place is felt and remembered.
