Michael Griffin Art: An Artistic Transformation

I was born in Chicago and raised in Southern California, and I have lived in Washington for over 35 years. As a photographer and digital artist, I am drawn to wherever wind and fate may lead, embracing the journey of artistic transformation.

My work is deeply influenced by color and texture, which serve as powerful forces that evoke a sense of time, place, and emotion. I feel a constant pull toward these elements—an instinctive need to keep them close, like familiar companions that guide my creative voice.

Beyond simply capturing an image, I find my truest sense of flow in the process of transformation. Manipulating images through layers of texture, tonal variation, filters, and shifts in saturation and vibrance brings my work to life, merging photography and digital art.

Now based in Washington State, I create images that exist at the intersection of photography and digital art. Each piece begins with the camera but evolves through digital processes, allowing reality, imagination, and atmosphere to coexist within a single frame.

My work reflects a reverence for the natural world and a fascination with the quiet, dystopian beauty found in concrete, metal, rust, and the passage of time. Guided by five essential elements—color, texture, space, place, and time—they shape how I photograph, how I create, and ultimately, how I see.
